Scott Hassler Visits FL!

HI again! So I feel like I just blogged, but as my new years resolution, I have commited to telling you about all the interesting things that happen to me as soon as I can. So this week was fun because Scott (Hassler) my coach came for lessons on Saturday and Sunday. I rode 6 horses on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. Scott also stays at my house, so we always have lots of time to talk.

It was actually fun for me to show Scott the horses, because at home he sees them everyday. Not in lessons, but he is in the arena all day while I am riding so you just know the horses and what they are

working on and how they are going. It was fun for him not to have seen them in 5 weeks. I think the horse that made the biggest change was Sarachi. He is a coming 5 year old and such a wonderful mover. I really wanted to improve his desire to go forward, loose and swinging, through and over his back, as well as build more muscles. Scott was very pleased at how he looked. I think he will be a really nice horse, but we are thinking about selling him, so if anyone out there is looking for a very talented horse, feel free to contact me. I think he is pretty special.

On Saturday, I had Scott ride Riley a little bit in the beginning. I am a very visual learner, so it is helpful for me to watch someone work through something. For me, sometimes I learn more from just observing. It was as helpful as I had hoped, and when I got back on, Riley gave me the feeling I was searching for. What fun! He is really progressing, and I'm very excited about his future.

Rosie (Team Tate super star ~ Horse of the Yr!) J  needs to build the ability to collect. So I decided I would start playing around with in-hand work with her. I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing, I feel like I have good timing, and I feel I jave talent in it, but not nearly enough practice doing it. I figured by the time I'm 35, I will be pretty good at it if I start now.  I had gotten her introduced to the idea, but was getting too much bucking, so I wanted Scott to help her understand what we are looking for. It was a great session, and by Sunday, by God, she can do it! It is always so fun to watch a horse start to inderstand something. She really got it, and we will get those hind legs come hell or high water! She is so trainable, and once she is on your side, she will try hard for you. I'm very proud of how she is changing as well. Tsrating to look like a real grown up horse, headed for FEI!
