Hi all! So there have been some amazing things happening lately! I cannot wait to tell you about it! First off, congratulations to Jean Wodarczyk on her purchase of Ready or Not. Jean has been a Team Tater for about 4 years, and we are so happy for her to have this great little horse. Yay Jean!
Congratulations also to Sue Springer on the purchase of my Petri, Donnermuth. Sue came out about 4 times and got to know the wonderful Petri and decided he was going to be her next partner. It was really hard for me to say goodbye to him, but Sue still wants to come for lessons and training, so I will still be able to remain in Pete’s life! I can’t help it that I get so emotionally attached, so I guess I should not feel bad about the tears! Ha ha but I hope I didn’t make Sue feel weird! Here she is all excited to put her new awesome horse in her horse trailer and start her new life with him, and there I am with tears rolling down my face! Saying goodbye to all the dreams I still had for him and me, all the gratitude I feel for such a quality horse who had given me so much. My international experience at the World Young Horse Championships in Verden was such a memorable moment in my life. I would not have wanted to have it for the first time with any other horse, whom I had watched grow up from a young 3 year old. And then there is my mom, Candy, who owed him and he represented all her support for me. I will be forever in debt to my mom for her commitment to my success, and for Petri who is one of a kind. I am so happy for Sue and know she has a terrific new journey she is embarking on.
On Monday the 18th, I was asked to be a speaker for the Young Rider Graduate Program. So after reading through the whole schedule, I asked if I could stay for the rest of Monday morning to listen and learn. When I was a young rider, we never had all this cool stuff going on! Graduate program here, Brentina Cup there! Dang! The step to become a professional is a much easier one now, which is great, much better than the sink or swim technique of before. I enjoy giving any kind of help to up and coming riders/trainers so it was a lot of fun. I hope I gave them some clearer understanding of the young horse programs.
The next weekend I flew up to Maryland for a visit and a clinic. I had to do some errands on Fri, like normal people things, so got my car titled in Md and went to the movies with my boyfriend! Then on Saturday I had 10 lessons at Jenn Hoffman’s place in Pa. Was a great day, warm (ish) weather and about 25 auditors! Always fun to be around enthusiastic people! Then on Sunday I got to spend the whole day with Richard, which was wonderful.
This week has been the most amazing ever! Not only did I meet Kyra Kyrklund (one of my all-time idols!), but I’m also riding in the Symposium tomorrow and Saturday!!! AND Steffen is coming out to my barn Friday am and Monday am to teach me privately on 3 horses. Wow! He and I had a great chat at the bar the other night, and it feels so good to have someone of that caliber tell me he thinks I have what it takes to make it in this sport. That will stick with me for a long time!
So it’s after midnight, and I better get to sleep so I can be my best for Steffen and Kyra tomorrow! Hope you are finding inspiration in your world too! |
