HI again! So May just flew by, and I could have sworn that I had blogged not too long ago! Sorry about that! Lots of things have been happening! But I will make it brief as I now have a whole month to catch you up on!
So the wknd after the Morven Park show was the Region 1 Adult Clinic with Charlotte Bredahl-Baker. I was selected to be a demo rider with Fiji. I was really excited to see Charlotte again (we had met briefly when we both rode with Hubertus in Fl for the FEI Trainer's Conf) and was looking forward to watch her teach. I find it so fascinating to hear people teach and I knew I would be able to learn a lot. I'm a little spoiled everyday because I get to ride around Susanne Hassler and hear Scott teach everyday so I count my lucky stars about that, but someone new can always be interesting.
Charlotte has a very kind way of teaching and makes all the riders feel at ease. She has many exercises and is able to explain them in a way that everyone can understand them. What I liked most about the whole day is that she was able to really build on each lesson as the horse and rider teams went up the levels. It always came down to basics, and each horse was able to show a different exercise. It is nice to just sit and watch sometimes and really just clear the mind and take it all in. I took quite a bit of notes and have been sharing some of the exercises with my students. I found it very educational and I recommend attending the clinic as she makes her way around the country to each region.
The next wknd I flew to Wi to coach some students at Silverwood. This was my favorite show in our area when I lived in southern Wi. It was only about 30 minutes from my old barn, so we went there a lot! On Thursday night, I was able to meet with my Dad for dinner, which was great to see him. Then I made my way towards the show grounds, and checked into my hotel. In the am, I drove to the best chiropractor in the world! (I have an old serious back injury and most chiros scare me, and one even made part of my hamstring go numb. So once I find what works, it is hard for me to change!) Dr. Miller set me straight and I was on my way to the show grounds.
The Foster's fly me in so I can coach Katie and George, who are trying out for the young rider team. Katie also brought her young mare Rey. Jaclyn brought her new horse, Nids, who I found for her in Fl. It was their first show together so that was very exciting! I taught Amy and Mary a few lessons, getting them both closer and closer to Prix St. George. Everyone did great! Katie got some super scores with George to move her into the top 10 in the country, and Rey won her classes. Jaclyn did a great job riding her new horse and even got a score into the high 60's. Amy did her homework over the winter and Radcliff did not even seem like the same horse that was at the same show last yr! Mary and Phil also kept their form strong over the winter. My Mom came down for the wknd and stayed in the hotel and hung out which was great fun! I changed my flight to Monday am and was able to see my sister's and their families on Sunday afternoon. That was a cherished memory.
The next weekend believe it or not was a whole wknd dedicated to sister bonding! I cannot even remember the last time I saw my sisters 2x in one month. I rode early in the am, and then we went to the beach. We had a superb time and really had a chance to really talk about real things. It was their first sister only trip with no children along. We got some great pictures! Good times!
So I hope all you find some time to cherish your loved ones and have some time to spend with them amidst your busy lives. Time keeps on running and we only have memories to take along with us. So Enjoy!! J
